Frome Community Sound System

A community-built, community-run sound system for Frome.

Frome Community Sound System is an open meetup for people interested in sound system culture, audio, engineering, and events. The aim is to bring local enthusiasts together to design, build, and run a shared sound system that can be used across community events in Frome.

Project Statement

Frome Community Sound System is an exploratory community project. The intention is to identify and connect people in and around Frome who are interested in sound systems – from classic reggae/dub stacks through to modern, multi-genre systems.

The long-term goal is to collaboratively design and build a shared sound system that can be made available for a range of community-focused events: local festivals, fundraisers, workshops, and other gatherings. The project is open to all people and all music genres.

At this stage, the focus is on:

  • Finding people in Frome who are interested in sound systems and audio culture.
  • Understanding what skills and resources exist locally (technical, creative, organisational).
  • Discussing possible approaches to designing and building a community system.

No commitments are expected at this point. This site is simply to gauge interest and open a conversation with anyone who feels this could be a valuable addition to Frome’s community and cultural life.
